It has been a busy summer here in Glueland. Between the big move across state lines, the nearly month long process of unpacking and getting marginally organized, and the getting out and about to get acquainted with our new hometown, we have had a whole lot on our proverbial plates around here. But all the while I was working away here and there on the latest issue of Alphabet Glue, and now, just in time for these final days of summer, it is ready at last.
This latest installment of Alphabet Glue is a great mix of projects, printables, and activities designed to take you and yours from the height of late summer living into the earliest days of the autumn season ahead. There is a seasonal booklist spanning both summer and fall, and you will find that the projects in these pages can be adapted for both glorious outdoor afternoons and quiet, rainy retreats when the weather isn’t quite as good.
Reflect on the shape of rain drops, and create a bit of refrigerator-ready art while you’re at it. Mark the pages of your latest great read with whimsical bookmarks; craft a pile of story starters that are wrapped up like tiny gifts of imagination. Make bouncy balls out of laundry room staples and handy office supplies, and spend a bit of time thinking about how fossils are formed before trying your hand at making your own. Repurpose the maps from family forays to museums, zoos, and other local attractions, turning them into colorful covers for travel journals used to take notes on the adventures had. And, of course, fill up those library bags with piles and piles of great books on everything from dinos and baseball to museum mysteries and back-to-school jitters.
Volume Fourteen of Alphabet Glue is filled with great fun for any season, but I think you’ll agree that it is especially well suited to these last days of lazy summer, and the feeling of magic that accompanies the arrival of the first crisp days of autumn.
